Three Day Workshop with Tom Francesconi

GCWS and ArtConnect held a three day workshop by Tom Francesconi, a Signature Member in numerous watercolor societies, including the American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, Watercolor West, Rocky  Mountain National Watermedia and the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, of which he has been honored with ‘Master’ status.

Emphasis of the workshop was on creating stronger paintings through a better understanding of value relationships and design principles. Throughout this process, Tom shared his thoughts and approach to breaking free from the tyranny of the reference photograph, encouraging a more creative painting experience.

Mornings began with a discussion about the day's topic followed by a demonstration to show how Tom approaches a painting from start to finish. During the course of the workshop, illustrated examples helped students more fully understand certain concepts. Afternoons were dedicated to student painting time when Tom attended to each student on an individual basis. Everyone agreed that Tom created an atmosphere that was educational, inspirational, and joyful!
